UZEI and the University of Deusto today signed a framework collaboration agreement at the University’s Donostia campus to advance the modernisation, standardisation and normalisation of the Basque language. The agreement, which will remain in force for five years, was signed by UZEI’s Director, Imanol Urbieta, and the Rector of the University of Deusto, Juan José Etxeberria SJ.
The two institutions have previously worked together on a number of projects and have now signed this framework agreement to consolidate and strengthen their collaboration. The agreement pursues two main objectives.
First, as part of its commitment to the Basque language, the University of Deusto will contribute to the standardisation and normalisation of Basque terminology through its collaboration with UZEI and by promoting the use of EUSKALTERM, the Basque terminology bank.
Second, both institutions have expressed their commitment to developing new forms of cooperation in research applied to the modernisation of the Basque language, making more effective use of their human and material resources, and further strengthening their institutional partnership.
