DITEes has been created by UZEI to verify the correct use of the Spanish lexicon.
DITEes is able to analyse large masses of text. In addition to the purely orthographic analysis, it detects the use of those words which in standard Spanish have the marks use or use preferably, and proposes the recommended forms instead. Along with the general lexicon, it also analyses terminology, so it can be used to check specialised texts.
This tool is based, on the one hand, on esLEX, the lexical database of the general lexicon in Spanish. This general lexicon is based on the rules of the RAE, the recommendations of the Fundéu foundation and general lexicons (toponyms, personal names from onomastic databases). In addition, it also includes forms that we consider essential nowadays and that appear in corpora, encyclopaedias, and the Internet, among other sources.
On the other hand, DITEes also takes as a reference UTH, the database that collects the terminological decisions of UZEI.
The fact that esLEX collects not only the «correct» forms, but also those that are considered variant and incorrect, is a condition of possibility to improve the detection of the lexicon in real use and to offer the relevant usage recommendations.
UZEI constantly updates both databases (esLEX and UTH), which, in turn, ensures that the verification and proposals for the use of DITEes are always in line with the standards and recommendations for the lexicon, both general and specialised.
