In August 2026, a total solar eclipse visible from the Basque Country will take place, marking one of the most significant astronomical events of recent years.

To coincide with this event, UZEI has produced this Eclipse Glossary, with the aim of compiling, updating, and standardizing Basque terminology related to eclipses. The glossary brings together 46 core concepts, and each entry includes the terms in Basque, Spanish, French, and English, along with a definition in Basque.

The glossary is intended to serve as a useful resource for the media, educators and science communicators, as well as anyone with an interest in astronomy.
