Revamped Neoloteka Now Provides Direct Access to Source Contexts

news
  • Examples taken from the web now include a link to the original source.

We have revamped the Neoloteka. Until now, we have collected neologisms, definitions, and examples, most of which were contexts sourced from the Internet. From now on, each of these texts will include a link that allows users to access the original source with a single click.

In other words, users will be able to verify that the context included in the Neoloteka has actually appeared in the media, books, websites, etc., cited in each entry. This direct access will make it easier to consult the complete context of each example, not just the phrase included in the Neoloteka.

To date, we have updated all published entries, adding links to examples that can be accessed online. Naturally, all entries added from now on will also include these links.

Networked with other neologism observatories

To systematically explore the Neoloteka reference corpus and, consequently, improve the detection of neologisms, we have signed collaboration agreements with the following Basque-language communication groups: Argia, Berria, EITB, and Goiena.

We also hold regular coordination meetings with other neologism observatories in neighboring languages, such as the Catalan center TERMCAT, a reference in linguistic standardization and terminological consolidation, and the General Delegation for the French Language and the Languages of France (DGLFLF) of the French Government.

This collaboration among these three institutions, drawing on the expertise of each language, allows us to enhance our strategies for detecting, analyzing, and disseminating neologisms.

As a long-term project, the Neoloteka is supported by Laboral Kutxa and has received grants from the Vice-Ministry of Language Policy of the Basque Government and the General Directorate of Linguistic Equality of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
