Among them the most well-known are TRADOS and Wordfast, among others. In a text translated with the aid of CAT tools, the pair made up of the source language segment and the target language segment is called a translation unit; translation memories are collections of these translation units.<\/p>\n<p>Translation memories are useful for developing a variety of spheres of language technologies. UZEI has developed its own resources to optimise their performance.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-vwrapper us_custom_bd1a67d4 us_animate_this align_none valign_top\"><p class=\"w-text us_custom_b9566dc7 has_text_color\"><span class=\"w-text-h\"><span class=\"w-text-value\">On the other hand, although certain aspects of translation memories are efficient, as they grow in size, they may generate problems like the following:<\/span><\/span><\/p><div class=\"wpb_text_column us_custom_9b43f9be zerrenda-berdea has_text_color\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><ul>\n<li>Computer problems: solutions enabling simultaneous use of the same memory by a large number of users are still extremely expensive.<\/li>\n<li>RAM memory: large memories slow down the devices in which they are used.<\/li>\n<li>Accumulation of useless information: storing useless information (junk information) hinders the optimum working of the tools.<\/li>\n<li>Translations managed by translation memories are usually free of context.<\/li>\n<li>Difficulties in retrieving pertinent information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><p class=\"w-text us_custom_b9566dc7 has_text_color\"><span class=\"w-text-h\"><span class=\"w-text-value\">UZEI places solutions for these and other problems at their clients\u2019 generates a corpus of multilingual and parallel translations. As a first step, it checks both the segmentation and the punctuation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-image align_center\"><div class=\"w-image-h\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"156\" height=\"86\" src=\"https:\/\/uzei.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/iTXEK.png\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>In the field of lexicon, iTXEK lemmatizes the general and specialized lexicon of parallel texts and checks it by comparing it with a dictionary previously defined by the user.\u00a0 Similarly, it detects named entities in both segments of a translation unit, and offers the option of checking and even sanitizing them.<\/p>\n<p>Although it has been developed to be used in the field of translation, it can be used to check the correct use of the lexicon in parallel texts; for example, in parallel legal texts such as official gazettes, versions of laws, etc.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0iTXEK project\u00a0was presented at the Basque Government\u2019s\u00a0Saiotek 2010\u00a0call for proposals.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"[vc_raw_html]JTVCbWFycmEtYmVyZGVhJTVE[\/vc_raw_html]translation memory managementCAT tools (Computer Assisted Tools) have become indispensable resources for translating.
