In recent years, UZEI has completed a variety of research projects to measure, using PLN tools, the implantation of terms in Basque.

TEIS, or terminology implantation information system, is the result of this research.

UZEI developed TEIS in two stages. In the first stage the aim was to measure the implantation of the terms in corpora made up of texts gathered from different digital media. In the second, by means of engines, the internet was used as a virtual corpus to measure actual use without the need to gather masses of text.

The prototype developed by UZEI measures the implantation in relative frequencies, and shows the use of the terms in the corpus in introduction coefficients.

The TEIS research project was presented following the Basque Government’s call for proposals for Saiotek 2006 and 2007.
