The Hizperri bilingual system is the result of research carried out by UZEI to design a semi-automatic system for detecting neologisms.

Hizperri detects unknown words in the corpus, and carries out a morphosyntactic analysis of them. It then establishes possible lemmas.

With the aid of patterns or models, it is also capable of detecting multiword lexical units. The most effective patterns were determined on the basis of statistical studies.

The Hizperri project was presented following the Basque Government’s call for proposals for Saiotek 2008-2009.
